Hello my name is Clare (she / her) and I would describe myself as being warm, friendly and a caring person. I have always been interested in other people and their stories. Over the years, I have felt a strong drive to help others and find meaning in what I do.
I'm a fully qualified integrative counsellor, meaning I use different approaches and will tailor therapy to suit your needs as I believe no 'one size fits all' and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. However, my core approach is person centred therapy and its important to me that I create a safe, non judgmental space for you to feel heard and understood. I believe people heal and grow when in the right
environment, where they are accepted for who they are and given space to explore and express their true self.
Other approaches I integrate are:
Mindfulness and self compassion approaches
Acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT)
Psychodynamic
Transactional therapy (TA)
I have helped people from all walks of life and have experience working with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, low self esteem and trauma. I have supported people working in the NHS and the forces. More recently, I'm involved with a project providing counselling to asylum seekers and refugees which has involved working with an interpreter. I feel very strongly that everyone should have access to counselling and mental health support. My practice is trauma informed and LGBTQ+ affirming.
I am a registered member of the British association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and attend regular supervision to review my work. As a counsellor, I understand the importance of self care so I try to practice what I preach by filling up my cup and making sure I can be my best for you. I like to continue my professional development by attending courses and workshops.
